Research conducted by a SCI doctoral student was recently published in the journal Scientific Data. “Course-Skill Atlas: A National Longitudinal Dataset of Skills Taught in U.S. Higher Education Curricula,” conducted in part by Alireza Javadian Sabet, doctoral student and graduate researcher, and Morgan Frank, assistant professor in the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems, presents Course-Skill Atlas, a longitudinal dataset of skills extracted from millions of higher education syllabi across the United States. Using Course-Skill Atlas, the researchers reveal how universities align curricula with job market needs, offering a large-scale representation of how higher education prepares students for the labor market.
