Jacob Biehl, an associate professor, has been appointed as an Electus Faculty Fellow in the David C. Frederick Honors College (FHC). In this fellowship, Biehl will serve a three-year term teaching and serving students at FHC, in addition to his responsibilities at SCI.
Biehl will guide students through the three FHC pathways: honors distinction, honors degree, and the Bachelor of Philosophy degree.
“My excitement to join the FHC is fueled by lots of conversations with SCI students who are eager to become more involved in honors programming,” said Biehl. “Involvement in the FHC is a great way for SCI students to broaden their participation in interdisciplinary scholarship and research interests. Participation also enables SCI students and faculty to share our perspectives and disciplinary insights to the broader campus community.”
As a fellow, Biehl will be teaching an honors course each academic year.
“While still in the works, I am planning to teach a course on the design of digital workflow solutions. Students from a broad set of majors will be encouraged to take the course. Each student will apply their own disciplinary expertise and creativity to solve challenging, real-world problems,” explained Biehl.
Passionate about student mentorship and success, Biehl is also looking forward to getting SCI students involved in FHC’s Office of National Scholarships and Post-Graduation Success.
“These programs put our students and programs on the global stage and open new pathways for success,” said Biehl. “I want to see more SCI students receive these awards!”
Please join us in congratulating Biehl on this esteemed appointment!
