SCI Alumni Awards

The SCI Alumni Awards Program will recognize our outstanding alumni, reinforce our engagement with the alumni community, and showcase the outstanding impact of our school.

Award Categories

  • Rising Star Award: This award is given to early career alumni who are recent graduates and have made a significant impact in their field. Recent graduate (Less than 10 years) from any SCI degree program.
  • Distinguished Service Award: This award is given to alumni who give back to the SCI community. It is awarded to alumni who embody the spirit of service and volunteer their time to improve SCI and University of Pittsburgh.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: This award is the most prestigious award bestowed to alumni under this program. It is awarded to alumni who have reached the pinnacle of their career and have achieved exceptional accomplishment in their field.

Award Selection Criteria

All SCI Alumni Awards

  • Award eligibility is restricted to alumni of SCI.
  • Current University of Pittsburgh faculty, staff and students are not eligible for awards.
  • Holders and candidates for public office are not eligible for awards.
  • Current members of the SCI Alumni Board are not eligible for awards.
  • Previous award winners in a given award category are ineligible for future awards in that category. 

Rising Star Award

  • Recent graduate (Less than 10 years) from any SCI program
  • Significant accomplishment in their field
  • Significant impact to SCI and/or Pitt
  • Not a previous award winner in this category

Distinguished Service Award

  • Exceptional service to SCI and/or Pitt
  • Not a previous award winner in this category

Lifetime Achievement Award

  • Exceptional accomplishment in their field
  • Exceptional impact to SCI and/or Pitt
  • Not a previous award winner in this category

Nominations

Eligible alumni may self-nominate or be nominated for awards. Self-nominees will be assumed to agree with program objectives and procedures and be willing to accept an award if selected. Candidates nominated by others must indicate their willingness to participate and their agreement with program objectives and procedures and willingness to accept an award if selected. No award will be made to individuals without this agreement. Nomination materials will include the following information:

  • Nominator information (name, year of graduation if applicable, contact information)
  • Nominee information (name, year of graduation, contact information)
  • Award category
  • Background information supporting the nomination

Nomination Form

Supporting documents include, but are not limited to a resume, CV, letters of support, news stories, and press releases. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, Dec. 20, 2024. SCI Office of the Dean staff will collect and organize nomination materials and supporting documentation.
