This year, four projects by five faculty members of the School of Computing and Information (SCI) received Momentum Funds from the Pitt Office of Research! The Momentum Funds consist of three tiers of grants designed to support projects focused on scholarship, multidisciplinary work, and research by Pitt faculty. Awardees of the 29 total projects will be celebrated at the Fueling the Future showcase in September 2023.
SCI projects include:
- Priming Grants (1-year term with an award cap of $25,000)
- Bringing Mobile Health to the Underdeveloped World
- Longfei Shangguan (assistant professor, Department of Computer Science)
- Improving Quantum Sensing Using Variational Quantum Optimization Algorithms
- Kaushik Seshadreesan (assistant professor, Department of Informatics and Networked Systems)
- Preserving Fairness of Deep Learning Under Environmental Changes
- Xiaowei Jia (assistant professor, Department of Computer Science)
- Hassan Karimi (professor, Department of Informatics and Networked Systems)
- Emission-Management for Sustainable Computing Systems
- Stephen Lee (assistant professor, Department of Computer Science)
- Bringing Mobile Health to the Underdeveloped World
