SCI Undergraduate Ambassador Spotlight: Nikhita Vysyaraju (SCI '25)

June 5, 2024

At SCI, student peer advisors are just one of many benefits students can take advantage of. SCI peer advisors like Nikhita Vysyaraju (SCI ’25),  are mentors that students can go to for guidance, advice, and information on their experiences. Vysyaraju, a rising senior dual-majoring in computer science and data science, is excited to help guide SCI students and share her perspective.

In her role as undergraduate ambassador, Vysyaraju shares the Pitt and SCI experience through virtual and in-person events like undergraduate Q&As and Decision Day events.

“Last year, I particiated in the ‘Bit for Pitt’ event, organized by SCI, where I dedicated a day to guide an admitted SCI student around campus,” said Vysyaraju. “The SCI experience at Pitt is unique due to its incredibly supportive and welcoming atmosphere, where it feels like everyone knows each other. Everyone is also willing to help! Whether from TAs, professors, advisors, or peer tutors, they make it easy to dive into new endeavors. The opportunities to explore various fields through research, club participation, hackathons, company site visits, engaging with companies at career fairs, and volunteering through PittServes are boundless.”

Vysyaraju expressed how valuable the advising program has been for her.

“This environment has been so important in helping me figure out my likes and dislikes within computer science from an early stage.” She also described that the goal of peer advisors is to "provide the student’s perspective on what being a student in SCI is like.”

Outside of SCI, Vysyaraju loves experimenting with and exploring fashion, makeup, and food. She also won free Airpods in a pitch competition last summer at her internship with PNC!
