SCI Staff Member Miranda Mae Acosta Receives Chancellor Staff Award for Outstanding Work

December 16, 2024

Faculty, staff, and students at SCI exhibit excellence every day, and Administrative Assistant to the Associate Deans Miranda Mae Acosta is an outstanding example. On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Acosta received the Exceptional Early Career Achievement Award, a Chancellor’s Award for Staff given to staff members who excel and exceed standards and expectations in their roles at the University of Pittsburgh.

The Exceptional Early Career Achievement Award recognizes a staff member in the early years of their professional career who has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the University and community. Acosta cites hard work and continuing to raise the bar for herself as the catalyst for her work.

“I’ve always come to work expecting the most out of myself and trying my best to achieve that, so receiving an award for something that feels so ‘everyday’ to me is an interesting feeling,” said Acosta. “It was humbling to be counted among the other staff members doing such amazing things, and I loved hearing about the work going on elsewhere in the University.”

Acosta was honored to receive this award and doesn’t forget the importance of the people she collaborates with every day.

“Working around such talented and impressive people, at Pitt and especially at SCI, is one of the best parts about my job and why I like working in higher education,” said Acosta. “Getting to support people and projects that are inspiring and help others makes me proud to help in whatever small way that I do.”

SCI’s exceptional staff fuels the innovation we do in the computing and information fields. Each day, members of the SCI community continue to exhibit excellence.
