At SCI, prospective students have endless access to resources from current students. Whether it’s advice on what to major or minor in, what clubs to join, or which community events to attend, student ambassadors guide prospective students in getting involved at SCI. Jenny Wang, a junior at SCI majoring in information science with minors in computer science and chemistry, is passionate about sharing her knowledge and expertise with prospective students and community members.
“I became an ambassador by showcasing my passion, expertise, and experience. As a SCI undergraduate ambassador, I get to share all my knowledge and experience with Pitt SCI with potential students!” said Wang.
Wang has had a positive experience throughout her experience at SCI, largely due to the smaller size of the school.
“One of the standout features of SCI is the personalized experience due to the smaller size compared to larger schools at Pitt. There is more one-on-one time with professors and peers. While classes are still dynamic and interactive, they tend to be smaller, creating a more close-knit and supportive atmosphere for learning and collaboration,” stated Wang.
Wang is also closely involved in the Pitt community outside the classroom. She is a member of the Official Association for Students of Information Science (OASIS), the Chinese-American Student Association (CASA), and Gaming Club.
Three fun facts about Wang are that she is a transfer student, she shares the same middle name with her three younger sisters, and she plays the flute and the piano.
