This year, three projects by faculty members at the School of Computing and Information (SCI) have received Momentum Funds from the University of Pittsburgh Office of Research! The Momentum Funds consist of three tiers of grants designed to support projects focused on scholarship, multidisciplinary work, and research by Pitt faculty. This year, 27 awards were granted to Pitt faculty across the University. SCI projects include:
Priming Grants (up to $25,000 in funding per one year)
- Enhancing Reentry Support Programs through Community-Based Participatory Action Research
- Aakash Gautam (assistant professor, Department of Computer Science, Department of Information Culture and Data Stewardship)
- Augmenting STEM Education in Rural Sierra Leone
- Kuo-Ting (Tim) Huang (assistant professor, Department of Information Culture & Data Stewardship)
- Luis de Oliviera (teaching assistant professor, Department of Computer Science)
Teaming Grants (supporting early-stage planning)
- Artificial Intelligence Integrated in Learning of Rehabilitation Science Skills
- Led by Reivian Berrios Barillas, Department of Physical Therapy, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
- Supported by Dr. Peter Brusilovsky (director, Intelligent Systems Program) and other team members from the Department of Informatics and Networked Systems
