SCI Alumni Wins Nationwide’s CEO Award for Innovation

October 23, 2024

Ryan Praskovich (SCI '15), a Pittsburgh native and graduate of the School of Computing and Information (SCI) with a bachelor’s degree in information science, has been recognized with the 2024 CEO Award for Innovation at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company. This is the highest recognition given to employees at Nationwide who go above and beyond for their customers, colleagues and communities. In his role as Senior Consultant and Cyber Fraud Product Owner, Praskovich has made remarkable strides in combating cyber fraud. He developed the Cyber Fraud Kill Chain, a framework that enables the financial industry to better understand, disrupt, and share intelligence on cyber fraud attacks.

His work, presented to the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), has led to the creation of a broader framework that strengthens collaboration and security across the financial sector. This achievement builds trust among financial peers and enhances the protection of organizations and consumers from evolving cyber threats.

The CEO Award, Nationwide's highest recognition, underscores Praskovich's dedication and innovation in the field. Aside from his work with Nationwide, Praskovich also is a member of The Knoble, an alliance dedicated to fighting human crimes such as human trafficking and financial elder exploitation.

Please join us in congratulating Ryan on this achievement!
