Mackenzie Ball, SCI’s Director of Outreach and Alumni Engagement, is going to be a panelist at the 2025 Mentoring and Advising Summit to speak about the school’s Alumni Mentoring Program.
The program gives SCI alumni the opportunity to become a mentor for current students to provide them with insight and guidance that supports their future career success. This ensures that students will graduate with a network of professionals in their field to reach out to for employment opportunities, career advice, and expose them to positions in fields they may not have previously considered. The program’s one-on-one matching process pairs students with alumni based on the criteria students identify, giving them personalized and effective support for their professional development.
Ball has managed the strategic planning, creation, and implementation of Pitt’s alumni outreach and engagement programs since 2018. She is also the director for the Technology Leadership Initiative, advisor to the Women in Computer Science (WiCs) organization, and chair of the National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) Affiliate for Aspirations in Computing. She focuses on fostering a more inclusive community in the field of computing through her leadership initiatives.
“I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share about SCI’s Alumni Mentoring Program, it’s exciting to be able to highlight how these relationships are helping to shape the future success of our students,” said Ball.
The Mentoring and Advising Summit is hosted by the University of Pittsburgh and will be held virtually on Friday, March 14, 2025. Administrators from universities across the globe come together to discuss topics related to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, connecting with alumni, and creating programs geared towards inclusivity and equity. Please join us in congratulating Mackenzie Ball!
