Dr. Nils Murrugarra-Llerena and team Explore How AI Can Help Undergraduates in Peru

Dr. Nils Murrugarra-Llerena, teaching assistant professor, Department of Computer Science, received a $40,100 grant for his program PhawAI, a Peruvian workshop to promote artificial intelligence (AI) research. The program intends to create a comprehensive educational experience through online courses and an onsite workshop between undergraduate students from disadvantaged communities in Peru and experts in AI. Education and mentorship led by professors and teaching assistants is provided in the form of both in-person workshops and virtual courses. 

The grant is awarded by the U.S. Embassy in Peru, and the research is done in collaboration with:

● José Ochoa, Department of Computer Science, Universidad Católica San Pablo, Perú
