To gain admission to the Master of Data Science (MDS) program, you’ll complete a 3-credit pathway course, Data-Centric Computing. By earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher in that course, you’ll be accepted into the degree program upon bachelor’s degree verification.

Bachelor’s Degree Verification
U.S./Domestic Students
Verification of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required for admission to the MDS program in addition to successfully completing the PBA course.
Note: Bachelor’s degree verification is usually completed via an automated process, but we may require your transcripts if we encounter technical difficulties in verifying your qualification this way.

For international applicants, the minimum requirement for admission to a graduate program is the completion of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or the completion of education outside of the United States that the University of Pittsburgh deems comparable to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution.
Applicants are required to submit official original academic transcripts. Official original academic transcripts that are issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation. Learn more here.
