SCI Alumni Board
As the Board begins its second year, a primary goal remains to serve as a vital link between alumni, students, and Dean to support and strengthen the educational experience that SCI provides. The SCI AB is a resource for alumni, new and seasoned, to connect and to collaborate with current students and with each other. The Board strives to build a robust community of alumni by encouraging our graduates to play a role, however large or small, in providing our students with a first-class education, and providing our alumni with professional growth and an opportunity to give back.
The SCI Alumni Board’s ongoing efforts include:
- providing the voice of industry and experience to help inform the dean how curriculum can be improved and what skills new employees need, and then giving some time to students individually, and in classrooms
- sponsoring events to facilitate networking and mentoring opportunities between students and alumni
- creating programs that benefit both students and alumni such as the SCI Mentorship Program launched the first year the SCI AB was operational
- serving as liaisons to industry with personal and professional networks to find resources for the school and students
- represent SCI at Pitt PAA events and coordinate SCI- specific meet and greet, lunch and learn, and other opportunities
- supporting fundraising efforts of SCI; and, many other occasions for alumni to stay informed and give back
As a graduate of SCI, our Fifth Anniversary Year-long celebration is the perfect time to join our efforts. Whether you are interested in engaging with current students, aiding career resources, participating in outreach events and volunteer opportunities, or making a gift to SCI, there are several ways to stay involved. If an event or opportunity interests you, please contact Terri Taylor at territaylor@pitt.edu or Mackenzie Ball at Mackenzie.ball@pitt.edu.
