Recently, The Illinois Library Association announced Emily Johnson (MLIS ’10) as the 2018 Crosman Memorial award winner. The award, named after Alex Crosman, director of the Peoria Public Library, recognizes the achievements of an individual who encourages continued improvement in the profession.

Emily, who has been working at the UIC libraries since 2013, demonstrated her leadership skills when she served as Interim Head of the library of health sciences. She has taken the lead in building relationships with faculty while also developing innovative, curricular design programs, such as the NExT Outreach Project. Additionally, she has volunteered or been appointed to professional leadership positions at the state, regional, and national levels. Her enthusiasm and commitment to users, colleagues, and health sciences librarianship continues to be recognized by professional colleagues.

The award will be presented at the Awards Luncheon held on Tuesday, October 9, during the 2018 Illinois Library Association Annual Conference.
