The fields of computing and information are constantly evolving. No matter what the future holds, one thing we can be certain of is the increasing interconnectivity between technology and sectors such as health care, education, government, industry, and non-profit.

Your support is more important than ever:

  • to attract and retain the best and brightest students
  • to seek out faculty of national renown
  • to eliminate barriers for minoritized students for admission to the school
  • to provide experiential learning and outside-the-classroom opportunities for students
  • to respond to unanticipated emergency needs

Ways to support SCI

Annual Fund

Priority Funds

Scholarship Funds: Scholarships not only allow the school to attract talented students with outstanding promise, but also retain them by securing financial support throughout their academic career. Last academic year, 99 students received $1,043,304 in scholarship or stipend aid to support their education at SCI.

Endowed Chair and Distinguished Professor: The availability of esteemed positions attracts top talent to any School, and the availability of such positions is dependent upon external support. Designation as an Endowed Chair recognizes eminence in a field of study that reflects outstanding contributions to a discipline. Designation as Distinguished Professor recognizes extraordinary, internationally-recognized, scholarly attainment in an individual discipline or field. These individuals are expected to make special contributions to the intellectual advancement of their home departments and schools, as well as to the institution as a whole.

Test-optional Admissions for Fall 2021: For the fall 2021 admissions term, students seeking admission to SCI will have the option to include or not include their SAT or ACT scores as part of the application, with all applicants to Pitt receiving a comprehensive individual review. SCI needs funds to provide these limited number of students with support programming and financial aid.

Dean’s Fund – Flexibility for Today: A school that commits to staying ahead of the curve in the ever-changing landscape of technology needs flexible funding that can be allocated when and where it’s needed most. Whether supporting an undergrad in need, sending a student on an extraordinary research experience, or creating programs for industry leaders to speak and inspire, the Dean’s Fund allows us to proactively address our top priorities.
